The St Paul Trail is Turkey's second long distance footpath after the Lycian Way. Slightly easier but wilder and more varied than the Lycian Way, this is an excellent moderately-paced walking holiday following in the footsteps of St Paul as he brought the message of Christianity to the Greco-Roman world. Starting from the ancient city of Aspendos, our walk along the St Paul Trail takes us over sections of Roman road and visits the remains of Roman cities at Selge, Kesme and Adada as it crosses the Taurus mountains to Lake Egridir in central Turkey. Staying in small comfortable pensions and village houses and with continuously varied walking, from tracks through forests of cedar and oak to the spectacular Koprulu canyon and ending in the pastoral beauty of the Egridir's Lake District, this is a walking holiday to get away from it all in the Mediterranean sunshine.

The St Paul Trail is a recently established, waymarked path, which follows a mix of forest trails, dirt roads, small footpaths and even Roman paving. Underfoot conditions are generally very good. There is one section while walking through the Koprulu Canyon where there is some scrambling on rock which is very easy but with a degree of ‘exposure'. Generally we hike for 5 or 6 hours each day with stops to visit the various ruins and other points of interest en route. There are no hotels along the route of the St Paul's Way and we stay in small pensions and village houses. Main luggage is transported each day between overnight stops during the holiday which means that group members will carry just a small day-sack during the walking. This holiday is suitable for anyone of average fitness who enjoys walking holidays
